Voice Builders: Info
Our fourth category of exercises, Voice Builders, is dedicated to strengthening your chest voice through the combined use of Breathe Hold Sing (BHS) and Voice Buzz (VB) techniques. The focus should be on maintaining a consistent volume and tone across all vocal ranges. Many singers struggle with projecting their low notes and maintaining control over the volume of their high notes. These exercises teach vocal compression, enabling you to achieve consistent volume and tone across all vocal ranges, significantly enhancing your vocal presence and power.
During each Voice Builder exercise, aim for a full range of motion stretch at the lowest point by fully connecting to your pressurized voice buzz. When performed correctly, you should feel no pushdown-sensation in your throat. Instead, produce a thin but piercing tone, with no excess breath or airiness. Keep your tone speech-like and ensure each vowel sounds consistent regardless of range.
THE POINT:
greatly increases vocal strength (measured by vocal tone/clarity and appropriate vocal fold closure and NOT by total volume)
Increased fluidity and connection to voice buzz
Provides muscle memory on belting in every range/every vowel
